For the last week I have been up in Stoke on the set of a movie called ‘Souled Out’.
1974. Power cuts, strikes and boot-boy aggro on the terraces. Flares, Chopper bikes and beer at fourteen pence a pint.
JOE MCCAIN, 17 and restless, is bored with the flatline tedium of a life that seems like it´s going nowhere. Enter JANE, moving to the beat of a music that Joe´s never heard, a vision of loveliness who opens the door to a whole world of sound, movement and all-nighter dancing at The Wigan Casino – the home of Northern Soul! Swept along on this tide of pulsating dance and lust, Joe finally finds somewhere he belongs and the acceptance and true love he yearns for.
Why was I there you ask? Seeing a friend? No. Spectating? No. Being nosey? No. I have a cameo. Bouncer 1. Yep I’m officially in the movies folks assuming I don’t end up on the cutting room floor that is. And, I loved it. Loved the process and the people. It was so nice to be around strong, confident, charismatic people for the week which this cast certainly are. I have done one scene and have to go back to do another in a couple of weeks. Would I do more? Given the chance, you bet…
It’ll be out next year so keep your eyes peeled…
